Beverly Roach
“Bev”

Prior to being one of the Lead Consultants for FORTIFY™ by Vistrol, Beverly Roach served in the Canadian Army for 21 years followed by a career in high-risk security. In her post-military life, she began to work in security for humanitarian and development organizations. During 20 years of living in diverse conflict zones from Kabul to Darfur, Bev focused on ensuring the organisations she worked with were operating safely so they could continue their work. As such she has overseen major security projects and handled the immediate responses in the face of devastating attacks and other incidents. She has lived in 10 countries and travelled to 81.   Bev has taught and developed several security programs over the years. Besides teaching security programs for staff deploying to high-risk environments which included hostage prevention and survival, she continues to teach the UN Women’s Security Awareness Training to women around the globe. She has also developed and teaches security related courses at Singapore University of Social Science including Urban Security and Resilience, Security for the Built Environment and Risk Management for Event Planning.   Bev has masters’ degrees in both Security Management and her other passion, Sports Management. She has taken the UN Hostage Incident Management training as well as more recently successfully passing the Kidnap for Ransom Management (KRIM) program. She started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at 52 and is now a certified self-defence instructor.

Peter Waa
“Pete”

Peter Waa is a highly accomplished Crisis Management and Emergency Response leader with an impressive track record of over three decades of international experience including working in conflict settings, fragile states, and countries in crisis. He is an expert in delivering strategic level initiatives in the emergency response, crisis management, resilience, and security space. Prior to being one of our Lead Consultants for FORTIFY™ by Vistrol, Pete was the Global Head of Security and Crisis & Emergency Response with the Asian Development Bank where he led the ground up reform of the bank’s global security and emergency response footprint, substantively enhanced its capabilities and capacity regarding crisis management and was central to the delivery of security and crisis management support in crisis afflicted member countries. Prior to this Pete was invited to join the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). He worked with the United Nations for nine years; eight of which were as the Asia/Pacific Region Head of Security. In that role he led the provision of security support for elections in Afghanistan, supported UN operations during the final stages of the war in Sri Lanka, responded to flooding in Pakistan and Thailand as well as a multitude of small and large security incidents impacting UNDP staff across the Asia/Pacific region. Pete served in the New Zealand Defense Force for 21 years where he saw operational service in Europe, the Pacific, the Middle East, and Central Asia. He was the Royal New Zealand Navy’s lead planner in developing the concept of the New Zealand Joint Services Headquarters amongst many other achievements.
